Food Ministry
Thanks to our dedicated volunteers and community partners, the food ministry of Efland United Methodist Church and the Efland Church Collaborative continues to grow, and has served thousands of family members. Our service has reached families in 10 counties.
Our food pantry was launched in January 2016. Since then, our food ministry has expanded with:
-
Weekly food distribution.
-
Mobile deliveries of food to homebound persons in need.
-
Food distributed through our networks (the Efland church collaborative and community partners).
-
Receipt of meat from the Orange County Outdoors Ministry. Through the Outdoors Ministry, venison from hunters is donated to Orange County Outdoors Ministry and professional processed into individual family servings. The venison is provided to the Food Pantry to be stored and distributed. Along with a package of meat, we provide the recipient with a recipe card for an easy-to-prepare venison dish and we also include in their food distribution the other ingredients to make it, whenever possible.
-
Emergency food distribution. Our food pantry distributes once a week, however, emergency situations are immediately accommodated when and where needed.
-
Bookbags of food distributed to school children in need.
-
In-kind donations received in support of the program.
-
Community partnerships expansion – The support of our network is critical to maintaining the food pantry and services, and our fellowship building serves as the central location for meetings, as well as for providing services.
